Welcome to Lake Eland Game Reserve, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is indeed fitting that the Game Reserve is named "Lake Eland" in honour of this magnificent antelope and its symbolic meaning to the San. Lake Eland Game Reserve is truly a place of peace and tranquillity. Accommodation

Log Cabins (5 or 6 sleeper) - Enjoy a relaxing and peaceful holiday in one of our self-catering cabins, overlooking the dam. Each unit is tastefully furnished with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, lounge and open plan kitchen. The lounge opens onto a covered patio with outdoor furniture, perfect for lazy afternoons enjoying the scenery from your own private deck. Each cabin has its own secluded braai facility and covered parking bay. The cabins are fully-equipped and are serviced daily, to ensure you get the rest and relaxation you need.

Log Cabins (2-sleepers) - Retreat to the comfort of one of our beautifully decorated and fully equipped self-catering 2-sleeper log cabins. The cabins are surrounded by natural vegetation and provide a peaceful and romantic escape. Each open-plan cabin has a large double bed with chairs and a kitchen and an en-suite bathroom.  The rooms opens onto a private deck, and the outdoor braai area is ideal for those tranquil evenings spent under the stars. The cabins are serviced daily.

Family & Park homes - Lake Eland Game Reserve has two fully equipped larger family homes. Their rustic feel provides the perfect accommodation for families or group of friends looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay.  Both are near to the swimming pool, fishing dam and restaurant, and are serviced daily.

Pipe Dream - If you're the type of person who enjoys trying something different, then our unique 2-sleeper Pipe Dream is perfect for you. Consisting only of a double bed built into an old concrete water pipe, this quaint unit provides a romantic little spot with a small patio and braai area. Communal toilets and showers are shared with the camp site. Bring your own cooking/catering utensils and this will definitely be a holiday that you can tell your friends about!

Camping and Caravanning Sites - For the adventurous and outdoor families, our camping and caravan sites are conveniently located a few meters from our fishing dam near Reception. The campsites are separated by wooden partitions providing privacy and your own space.  The sites are well equipped, each with an electrical point, and communal toilets and showers. Close to the swimming pool and children's playground, the sites provide the perfect spot for parents to relax while children entertain themselves.

Fisherman Cottages and camping at the Lake - For all fishing enthusiasts, nature lovers and those who just enjoy being in the outdoors amidst breathtaking views, our Fisherman Cottages situated at the Lake provide the perfect getaway and family holiday. Each cottage has its own braai and outdoor area. The communal boma, dish-washing and ablution facilities are shared among the campsites and cottages. There are no electrical points at the Lake. Campsites are spread out on the waters edge providing an ideal spot for fishing and swimming

Lake Eland Game Reserve is the perfect venue for a family holiday, romantic getaway or simply a day's outing. Spectacular views of the Oribi Gorge and abundant wild life make this a unique experience. With a variety of facilities and activities to choose from, such as a children's playground, game drives, horse rides, walking and cycling trails, paint ball, our challenging 4x4 track, and a thrilling walk across our 80m suspension bridge, Africa's longest Zipline and much more!  Everyone will have a fun-filled and relaxing day at Lake Eland.

Weddings, Functions & Conferencing

Set against the breathtaking beauty of Oribi Gorge, experience the unique splendour of a wilderness/ country wedding and forever capture your magical day with lasting memories at Lake Eland.

Once an old, rustic, stone dairy used by farmers, these ruins have been restored into a beautiful wooden and stone chapel. The chapel is situated on a hill, hence its name and is usually surrounded by a vast variety of antelope, zebra and wildebeest grazing the grassy plains. The chapel looks onto the game reserve, providing spectacular views for guests to admire before and after the service, as well as a stunning back drop for photos. 

The Oribi Hall is situated adjacent to the Lake Eland Game Reserve reception, overlooking a small dam and a spectacular view of the game reserve. Wooden ceilings, windows and doorways provide a natural, rustic look, while large dimming chandeliers and a fire place create a warm ambiance in the evenings. The hall is the perfect venue for a day or night reception. This venue must really be seen to be appreciated. 

The hall is equipped to seat 320 quests but we provide versatile draped curtains which can be used to reduce the size of the hall for any number of guests. A stage at the front of the hall can be used for the bridal party’s table, for speeches or it can be closed off with draping. Outside the hall, a wooden deck overlooking the dam provides the perfect spot for guests to enjoy pre-drinks, while the bridal party has photographs, or it can be used for memorable group photographs with the sun setting as your backdrop.
