Champagne Valley in Kwa-Zulu Natal's Drakensberg Mountains lies nestled between Cathkin Peak and Champagne Castle. Reached via the N3 national road through the towns of Bergville and Winterton, Champagne Valley is a popular family holiday destination for not only foreigners but South Africans alike.

Catering to visitors the region offers plenty to see and do. As part of the Mdedelelo Wilderness Area, the Champagne Valley is ideal for hiking and mountain biking, along with excellent rock-climbing opportunities. Monk's Cowl, located between Cathkin Peak and the Drakensberg escarpment, is one of the most difficult climbs in the Drakensberg, offering beautiful views over the valley.

Champagne Valley is famous for it being home to the internationally recognised Drakensberg Boys Choir, whose mountain-top performances have awed all who have heard them perform. The valley is towered over by Champagne Castle, a 3 248m high mountain attached to the main escarpment, while Giant's Castle, a protected area within the World Heritage Site, provides several rock-climbing routes. The area can also be explored by scenic drives.
